Optimum Cholesterol

My doctor says my TSH level is normal…but I don’t feel normal..?
I went to the doctor with fatigue, unexplained weight gain (was diagnosed with PCOS which they explained this with), foggy brain, memory problems, concentration problems, abnormal menstrual cycle (they blamed PCOS), decreased libido, very low basal body temperature (35.5 degrees C preovulatory, 36.1 degrees C post ovulatory) and high serum cholesterol levels (6.9mmol/mL). I requested a thyroid screening after my doctor said ‘you have depression, take these antidepressants and you’ll feel fine’. My TSH level came back at 3.0. He said it’s normal, so it’s just depression. Well, I’m a psychologist…I know I don’t have depression. I’m also trying to conceive and have read that the optimum level of TSH is 1 and anything higher than 2 can cause problems and should be monitored. So am I right to seek a second opinion or should I just leave it alone and continue on foggy headed and unable to function due to fatigue?
I should add I’m 21.
I have a Thyroid problem and my TSH level was 162 but I didn’t show many symptoms and it didnt really effect me to the extreme but it did effect me. However, you shouldn’t believe everything you read. My thyroid doctor, who is a renowned Endocrinologist, and has been a doctor to even President Bush Sr, says the TSH normality should be between .5 and 5. ANYTHING HIGHER THAN 2 IS NOT BAD AND WILL NOT CAUSE PROBLEMS. You should seek another opionion but I can guarantee you that the TSH levels for NORMAL is between .5 and 5. I am a nurse and a daughter to a renowned Endocrinologist. Your doctor does not go to school for so many years and learns many things to tell you a lie. Stating that anything higher than 2 is bad and can cause problems…no. Doctors do not get paid or go to school so ppl can read online about things and then be told other than what they learned (which is the truth) otherwise there wouldn’t be doctors now would there?? Come on sweet heart. COMMON SENSE. Your doc wouldnt pull that sh1t.
